Answer:

Honestly, the best way to make money is by playing the AH. I'll try to explain is as best as I can. In order to do this you don't have to have much money to start, but you must understand that earning money this way grows exponentially, the more money you get, the more you can earn. Also, it will take about a week or so to fully set this up as you will need to get used to your server's economy.

First of all, you will need to get some type of auction addon, auctioneer or auctionator works. Each day about twice a day you should run full scans. You should also take a look at commonly used items so you personally get a feel for how much they are worth(items like abyss crystals, frost lotus, titansteel bars, etc.) After a week of this you should be good to start(If you see any that look like a good deal prior to a week, grab them.)

Now essentially all you'll need to do now is check the AH every now and then for cheap items to resell. A good thing to do is to go to the page with all newly added auctions so you can see it if someone first puts up something for a really good price. This option should be somewhere in the addons.

Tips:

Most people raid on weekends - this means that of the weekend(friday evening - sunday). This means that each weekend a lot of people will be looking to buy raid supplies(flasks, potions, etc) so it's a good time to sell(and buy them early in the week). Towards the end of the standard raiding period for most people(Sunday night, monday morning) most people will be looking for stuff for their new gear so this is a good time to sell enchanting materials and gems.

Maintenance: right before maintenance is a good time to BID on items that have really low bid prices. Sometimes auctions will expire over maintenance and if you bid on them right before maintenance and then no one else can, you'll get yourself some nice cheap things. This can also work against you, so always set your bid price relatively close to your buyout price.

Each auction has a deposit price, so always make your auctions last 48 hours to reduce the cost of putting them on a lot.

In patch 3.2 they're changing the cost and requirement for your epic ground mount so you might want to hold off a month or so if you can. It will be cheaper at that point.

Netherweave doesn't necesarilly sell for a lot but you almost always have some to sell and it's nearly gauranteed to be purchased which makes it a good item for selling. Generally speaking I can get about 7 gold a stack for it. Runecloth is usually a better seller.

Depending on what your trade skills are your best money makers in that level bracket are most likely going to gathering professions. If you have mining/herbalism/skinning just keep doing that and posting everything you get together on the auction house. Zangarmarsh is a good all around farming zone in the Outlands.

Anyways, the best way to make money as you level is to not spend it. There's very little need to be buying much of anything as you level since quest rewards will be more than sufficient for gear.
