Question: Skyrim: Can I complete the main quest without starting the College of Winterhold quest?
Is this possible? I play on the Xbox 360, so I am unable to do cheat codes like on the PC.
[Yes, I know that the Orc in the College's library tells you to find Septimus Signus, who then points you in the direction of the Elder Scroll. ]
The reason I'm asking is because I absolutely DO NOT want to join the College of Winterhold (I'm strictly a dual-weapon stealth type) and I hate seeing an incomplete quest.htm">quest on the menu. It bugs me. A LOT.

Because your playing on the Xbox360.
If you were playing on the PC, like myself, you wouldn't have this problem.
Although in the main quest, you have to visit the College, you do not have to join it then or at all.
But, to be honest, you may as well join for the trophies. The questline is really boring and easy and the only magic you need is a shield spell in a class demonstration, and that is given to you anyway.
So yeah, no you don't have to join, but you may as well. It too me three hours to do.

Yup. You have to go see Septimus Signus and do his daedric quest though. He is behind winterhold in the islandy area. Once you have his quest you can get the elder scroll.
