Question: Playing Guild Wars, please look?
I want to start Playing Guild Wars. What is the best way to get started. I want to know something about the game before Guild Wars 2 comes out. I know there is Guild Wars Prophecies, Factions, and Eye of the north which is an expansion but the rest are standalone. Which one would take me through the most optimal GW Experience.

Any of the first three campaigns are fine... I prefer Prophecies or Nightfall (Factions was more PvP based, played all three). Then add Eye of the North when you get through that if you'd like, or add another of the other campaigns.
All are really different and cool in their own ways. I own Prophecies, Factions & NightFall. Mostly play Nightfall(When I do play). Basically you have missions and quests that guide you through the main storyline for each one of the games. You can choose to do the primary missions & quests which are the only ones required to advance in the storyline and you can choose to do side quests as well for xp, leveling up, gold, items. etc. This is just from a storyline point of view. The game also offers other various things to participate in and other ways of making gold. You can join a guild, participate in PvP once you're Level 20, GvG, Tournaments,etc. Basically there's so much more to the game which you can learn a lot about on wiki if you're interested. Link below. ^.^ All in all I think the game is definitely worth purchasing imo.
Guild Wars is a MMORPG with three Expansion Packs: Prophecies, Nightfall, Eye of the North.
It is a heavily PvP focused game with PvE being mostly a tacked-on feature. You can usually buy the base game and the first two expansion packs in a set for around $20. This should keep you busy till GW2 is released later this year.
